David Bowie on the Big Screen

It was headline news when the death of revered musician David Bowie was announced on 11th January 2016. On the evening of the 11th, the Big Screen in Woolwich, south east London, beamed the BBC’s report into the town centre’s public square.

As a child, Bowie lived in Brixton, south London, before moving to Bromley Common in south-east London.

In 1967, aged 20, Bowie performed at least two gigs at the Shakespeare Hotel in Woolwich with The Riot Squad group.

David Robert Jones (David Bowie) born 8 January 1947 in Brixton, died 10 January 2016, New York City, U.S.
